IBV Supercar Club breaks a World record and makes History

IBV Supercar Club made worldwide history when their attempt to set a new Guinness World record was a phenomenal success.

Sunday the 21st of September 2014 will go down not only in history, but also in the memory and hearts of the thousands of people who made this dream come true for 200 orphans.

Durban was buzzing with excitement on Sunday morning when more than 200 super cars, accompanied by close to 100 bikers and 5 helicopters, left Pavilion Hotel in Durban to a rapturous crowd that were in awe of the beautiful machines before them.

In addition to the R1 million challenge, IBV took 200 orphans from 14 children’s homes on a once in a lifetime journey in a supercar. The Charity Parade started in Durban, then proceeded to Ballito and ended at the Gateway Shopping Centre.

The ecstatic CEO of IBV International Vaults, Ashok Sewnarain was incredibly humbled and grateful to all those that participated in this record breaking attempt.

“IBV would like to thank each and every individual, corporate, partner, volunteer and the media in making this a phenomenal success. Our aim was to raise more than R1million in a Supercar Parade and through the proud efforts of every single person and those that pledged money, we did it!”, he said. The deserving beneficiaries of the event are UNICEF, Child Welfare South Africa, The Sunflower Fund and IBV Children’s VIP Day.

Mark McKinley, the Guinness World Records adjudicator, who flew in from London on Saturday said it was a never before attempted record.

“I have never seen such a phenomenal display of cars and was overwhelmed by the welcoming nature of Durban.” said McKinley.

IBV Humanity, the IBV Group’s CSI division was excited and honoured to have the First Lady Madam Thobeka Zuma, give an address at the event.
